Below are the positions available at Camp Kirk for the 2008 season.
CAMP KIRK 2008 SUMMER STAFF POSITIONS AVAILABLE
The following positions are available at CAMP KIRK, a small residential (overnight) summer camp for children ages 6 to 13 who have learning disabilities, ADD and/or ADHD. The camp is located outside of Kirkfield on Highway #48 between Lindsay and Orillia, approximately 1:30 hr. from Toronto. This is a family style atmosphere where there is no room for “super egos” and “super stars”...but lots of room for nurturing and caring individuals and strong team players. The dates of employment for all positions will be from June 15 until August 20, 2008. All staff members reside at camp and Room and Board will be provided over and above the salary. The salary for each position will vary from approximately $2,000 to $5,000, depending on the position and the individual’s experience and qualifications. Please note that the following job summaries may be modified to suit the ongoing needs of the camp, it’s campers or the individual(s) hired in such capacity. All postions are live-in positions and include room and board.

TRIPPPING GUIDE AND CAMPCRAFT INSTRUCTOR (1)
TRIPPING COUNSELLOR/GUIDE and CAMPCRAFT INSTRUCTOR:(1) You would be helping set-up and organize short canoe trips for any given number of cabin groups throughout the summer. As well, you would be expected to teach the children camp crafts or camping skills and canoeing and you would serve as a guide on most canoe trips. Canoe tripping experience, good knowledge of campcrafts and N.L.S. swimming qualification or BRONZE CROSS MINIMUM are a MUST.

SUPPORT STAFF (1 positions)
Reporting directly to the Camp Director or his/her Assistant, this person is responsible for:
Providing one-on-one supervision for children who may require additional support
Replacing counsellors when they are on days-off
Working in cooperation with the counselling and/or program staff, ensuring adequate supervision and support
Assisting with all camp activities and special events or programs throughout the summer

PROGRAM STAFF (ACTIVITY INSTRUCTORS) 3 positions
PROGRAM STAFF: (4 positions) (ARCHERY INSTRUCTOR, CHALLENGE ROPES COURSE INSTRUCTOR(1), COOPERATIVE GAMES INSTRUCTOR ) Reporting directly to the Camp Director or his Assistant, the Programme Staff is responsible primarily for planning and facilitating activities for all campers. The focus is on providing a program of activities which will meet the needs and capabilities of individuals and of groups of campers. Program staff are responsible for all aspects of their individual activity, including the ordering of supplies, providing a pre and post camp inventory and a final activity report with possible recommendations for the future. The program staff is expected to participate and contribute to our pre-camp staff training programme, staff meetings and the overall camp routine and camp life.

CABIN COUNSELLORS (4 POSITIONS)
CABIN COUNSELLORS: (4 positions) Reporting directly to the Camp Director or his Assistant, he/she will be responsible for: _the overall physical and emotional well-being of the campers in his/her care _following the daily routine and program as set out by the Camp Director and the Program Staff _participating and assisting the Instructors with general supervision during each activity periods _creating a nurturing and supportive environment which meets the needs of the individuals in the group while responding to the interest of the group as a whole _working in harmony and in tandem with a co-counsellor. preference will be given to individuals who have a current R.L.S.S. Bronze Cross or higher qualification in swimming and first aid certification.
