Hello Henri, It was with pleasure that I read your request for testimonials from parents of former campers of Camp Kirk. We are happy to be able to do something for those who have done so much for our family. Our son Brian first attended Camp Kirk when he was 11 years old. He was identified with reading and writing disabilities when he was 8, and found school increasingly difficult, to the point that I homeschooled him for his grade 6 year. We found Camp Kirk after this intensive year of close daily contact, and I sent him off, with some degree of relief but much anxiety for how he would fare. Our family can still remember his return from his first experience at camp - his siblings and cousins watched him come down the driveway, looking more mature, more capable, and just brimming with self-confidence. They all turned to their aunt and I and said "I want to go to camp!" and our family have been campers at various Ontario camps ever since. Brian continued to benefit from Camp Kirk until he completed the leadership program at 14, and has done his high school volunteer hours as a counsellor-in-training at another camp. Thank you, Henri and all the staff at Camp Kirk for the incredibly positive impact you have had on our son and our entire extended family. Sincerely, Maureen and David Hulbert
